Yre,

I don't know, its sounds more like a gamble. I hate to gamble on earnings reports. I think I'll pass on this one.

There are fundamentals backing the decision. Got out of PAL and going big time into shorting this baby for some fast money. I got in shorting at 196.00. So I do not see much risk but if it plays out like I see it, should be a sweet reward.

For one, GS has reduced its share by 96% in last 2 months! They pumped it till 278 and kept selling till 200s... If there is one guy in finance who knows anything before god does, it is GS.

For two, the metal tellerium used in circuitry has become expensive and scarce.

Then again, I am just a guy in a livin room makin decisions. Will see.

Yre,

Your reasons for shorting FSLR are valid and make sense. The stock has seen quite a run-up and blow out earnings cannot continue on forever. It's good that you have already started shorting at a higher price. Still, personally, I cannot see myself shorting FLSR (or recommending it as a short-sale) because I am not as familiar (as you may be) on some of the stocks fundamental flaws. I have played positions (long and short) before earnings were released and they have always been a gamble. I can never be 100% sure how a stock will be recieved by the public once earnings are out. I can only be sure after the fact (after the news is released and the publics emotions are set in motion). That is when I can make my move. Once the stocks price and action is left imprinted on a chart, I can make a better assessment. In any case, good luck with it.

Yre,

Fast money is but a dream! I wish it were that easy. Unfortunatly, whatever seems obvious usually isnt. But don't worry I am sure that you will make up your mistake. PAL was a good play that I am sure treated well. AS long as your gains from PAL outweighed the sting from FSLR,you are in fine shape.

sure it did. I wanted to make some fast money and buy something sweet for my wife. Sure enough this time around it is going to be Palladium jewelery. But gosh, I never felt so dumb and numb as today. I just let all my guards go and trusted my own research little too much.
Never Again. I still believe this one gotta go down, it was obviously not today. Tellurium scarcity is for real.

But again I am shorting PCLN.
Going back long on PAL and VGZ.

Still long on PAL, and loving it. FSLR showed up on my 52wk hight sort this morning. I thought about you for a second ;) I agree though, I think they're about done. They just have popularity thanks to some famous comentators.

Sorry; wrong sort. They were up 30% or so. ...not at the 52wk. high.

Take care,
Chad.

FSLR seems to have thrown off a lot of traders with its earnings bounce. Still, the stock may still make a good short. Just keep an eye on it for now. One can still short it if it closes below either the 50 day MA (for a short term trade), near the LOD on heavy volume or for a longer term trade if closes below its 200 day Ma (again near the LOD), on heavy trade volume. Just a thought to keep in mind. Stocks do not go up forever. The problem is that shorting is very difficult. It will be easier to see what direction FSLR takes now that the earnings are out.
