Grabbing "aShare" of interesting and emerging markets with iShares!
Lets say you belive that their is a huge growth potential in, lets say, the Australian Markets and you want a piece of the pie. What do you do? Do you scout around various brokerage firms and see which will allow you to buy stocks listed on the down under? You could, although it may seem like a hassle at first. Or you can invest in an ETF (Exchange Traded Fund) that contains a basket filled to the brim with some of those Australian stocks that you are craving for! I have three favorite ETF's from the iShare family tree.
The first one that I like, is the MSCI Australia Index Fund (ticker symbol: EWA). EWA contains a wide assortment of stocks in different sectors/industries. This is so that you can get the maximum exposure of what these Australian company stocks have to offer. The current price on EWA is 19.05 . So whats included in the EWA? Well there are some that are familiar, such as BHP Billiton Ltd. (BHP) and Rinker Group (RIN), as well as others that you may not have heard of such as Woodside Petroleum, Wesfarmers, Westpac Banking Corp (WBK) and others. I like EWA as a long-term growth investment.
The 2nd ETF that I like is the MSCI Canada Index Fund (EWC). Believe it or not, our close neighbor Canada, has been experiencing tremendous growth in the last few years. Canadian companies in various sectors and industries are actually looking up to par fundamentally and technically with their closest American counterparts. The EWC contains some notables such as EnCana Corp (ECA), Canadian Natural Resources (CNQ), Suncor Energy (SU), and Canadian National Railway (CNI). EWC also includes several banks and financial services/institutions such as Royal Bank of Canada (RY) and Sun Life Financial (SLF). EWC is currently trading at 20.58. Once again, this is a long-term investment.
Another favorite is the S&P Latin America 40 Index Fund (ILF). We all know that Latin America is not only hot temperature wise, but also growth wise as well. Some notables in the fund are, Petroleo Brasileiro SA (PBR), America Movil SA de CV (AMX) and Cemex SA de CV (CX). The ILF is currently at 110.04 which is near its 52wk high.
