Hedging against high gas prices
What is one to do, when you're shelling out $40-60 to fill up your tank each time you hit the gas station. What do you do when gas prices creep up 10-15 cents per day? I'll tell ya. You hedge yourself against rising oil/gas prices by investing and trading in gas and oil companies. That way you can make a quick buck out of it and not lose that much at the pump when you are filling up that Hummer. Companies I like? How about Chesapeake Energy (CHK), Encana Corp. (ECA), Suncor Energy (SU), Canadian Natural Resources (CNQ), Husky Energy (HSE.TO) (or if you want the US equivalent, it trades on the pink sheets as HUSKF.pk), Grant Prideco (GRP), Patterson Utility (PTEN, Lufkin Industries (LUFK), GMX Resources (GMXR), and Toreador Resources (TRGL), just to name a few of my favs. I also like Talisman Energy (TLM), but I don't like the court case they are in, so I can't recommend. Happy Trading!
