This is the trade journal for March through May. It is called this because it mainly deals with positions that were bought from March to May 2008. I have already started listing some of my profits and losses on the last few posts. This will be the continuation of that. Again, I want to reiterate that I have liquidated most of my positions (about 90%). This was done because of the increase in risk in the U.S. markets. Although I may have sold out of a few oil stocks a bit too soon, I'd rather keep a 60% profit rather then let it turn into a 10% loss. I will try to have everything done by tomorrow night. I have to stress the fact that I have been feverishly busy the last few weeks. There has been a lot of extra side work and preparation that has taken up so much of my time. Still, I will try my best to have the results up as soon as I can. For now, enjoy your Memorial day weekend.

Update # 2: I put a few more of the trades up. Of course, there are a lot more to go. Right now, I am trying to keep myself from falling asleep at the keyboard. I am really that tired. Today was a long day. I will continue to post some more trades tomorrow. I'll see how much I get done with tomorrow. It is a long and tedious process since I trade a lot of different stocks at once. Still, I will have it done. For now, there aren't that many interesting new longs. I like ADK and TSYS. ADK is a bit thinly traded, but it is still showing a great amount of strength. TSYS is putting in a strong bottom. I will be adding to my OFI position since it is doing rather well. Anyway, I'll see you all tomorrow. Update #3. Finally got a chance to post some results...

Basically, today was another chance for me to liquidate the portfolios. The past few weeks have been hard and fast. It also went by fast. Still, despite not holding onto most of my positions for more than a month or two, I still feel that it was best to sell. The last thing I need is to see all of my hard work and gains evaporate in a day or two due to a hard selling market. Anyhow, I have sold off most of my positions except for a small handful. Some that I am still holding include AREX, TGH, MRB and a few others. I really wish I had more time to devote to the blog, but the past few days have been very hectic. I have been up since quarter to 7 this morning and I still have a ton of work to do just to prepare for tomorrow (its 2:30 am the next day). I will try and post all of my sells. This will include profits, losses and stocks that I am still holding onto. So yes, I am mostly in cash now. The returns were quite good. Hopefully I will have something to brag about by years end. I will post more of my sells later on tonight/morning. I'm going to be a bit busy the next few days but I will try to post all the info by the end of the week. There are other strong holdings that I want to mention as well such as GTE, NOG, SUTR, TACT and many more. Most of these are profitable. Still, there are a few that have not worked out well. Despite this, for the most part, most of my recent buys and recommendations have been doing quite well.

Note: Notice that most of my current winners are part of the oil/gas industry. The rising oil prices have helped create a unique situation which has resulted in above average returns. The metals group has also been a high flier. This is evident in the gains attained by MEA, MRB, and ZEUS.

Note: LL is up 71% since I mentioned it back in March 2008. I will post more (recent) trades before Monday. I am rather busy this weekend but I will try my best to post everything in a timely manner.

On the Move: PDO

Stocks such as PDO are a rare breed. This is especially true when you consider the fact that PDO is an oil/petroleum stock. Of course, there are several factors at play that have helped PDO become the strong stock that it is today. With a small number of outstanding shares and record high oil prices, this was a no brainer. In addition, PDO boasts strong fundamentals as well. Earnings have been quite impressive as of late, adding more fuel to the fire that this stock has been stoking. Although I have sold 75% of my original position yesterday (around 13 and change), PDO continues to impress me. Although I still like the stock, I will not add more to my position until the stock comes down a bit. I sold the majority of my stake for a near 80% return in less than a month. My remaining stake is already up 130%. If you aren't long PDO, this is not the time to jump on. The stock is a bit over extended and should come down by either the end of the day or next week.
