Low Volume Selling Syndrome

Hey ladies and gents,

Are you ready for a looooong weekend?? I'm not. I start winter session classes on January 2, so I am not too thrilled. Ontop of that, the markets will be closed on the 2nd as well in observance of President G. Ford's passing. So get ready for a brief 3 day trading week. The last few days were rather sluggish and quiet, as most traders are still on vacation.

So what did well today?
How about them tire stocks? GTI and TWI (got a small pos.) did well today as they closed near their HOD. I am looking to buy a small piece of GT.

GT 3 month chart

GT 2 year weekly

Not bad!

TWI 3 month chart

A bit choppy, I know. Still, I will give this chart some more time to form. I may have jumped in a bit too early. We'll soon see.

TRCR - working on the handle of a 2yr base

TRCR 2yr weekly

Watch that handle...

HINT and EPHC- Continue to keep an eye on these two gems. I have a feeling that both will be big movers in 2007.

Epoch Holding Corp (EPHC - NASDAQ) HOD 9.99 Close 9.94

EPHC closed near the HOD on above average volume. The verdict? Bullish.

Hill International Inc (HINT - NASDAQ) HOD 7.15 Close 7.15

An exact HOD close on above average volume? Ya gotta love it.

HTZ - New stock, old name, hot performance...

Also take a look at SPR, USBE

Keep an eye on some of those shipping stocks: EXM, DRYS, DHT

Some more goodies: How about LCBM?

LCBM
Once it passes 18, its smooth sailing.

VTR, SMOD, ININ...

VTR

SMOD

Note: SMOD needs to pass above and hold above 13.50 to qualify as a good long. Keep an eye on it for now.

ININ

Short Idea: RVBD...I made a very nice gain with this one but now it is starting to falter. A short term short in RVBD would be an ideal way to play this security. Nothing personal against RVBD, just business.

Moving Along Nicely....

Hey folks,

Today's market action was nothing special and definitely not spectacular. For the most part, the trading action was rather quiet, except in a few small, speculative small caps. Still, one must consider that it is the holidays and the market did not succumb to a big drop. This is a positive factor that one needs to take into consideration. In other words, we are moving along just fine.

Stocks that did well today: EPHC, HINT, BKC, IIVI, HMIN, SEAC, BTRX, MPEL, HLYS, GSH, HXM, NPTH, FFHL (wow!)

Others I am watching: WAUW, ITWO, AB, WFD, NEU (double bottomed), GROW, ICI, FCFS, CHL, PNSN, GSOL, ININ, GFIG, WBD (may be a tad too late to jump into)

Those that are indecisive: TWI, TX, CANI (found support), INMD

Intraday Treats

Hey guys,

After going through some quick screens, I have found several interesting stocks that worth watching. Some of them make good long candidates, especially if they continue to show strength near the market close.

Some ideas: CNR, NTZ, ALXA, OMTR, IPCC, SJW, TX, APKT, MPEL, TTM, DXPE, CRDN,

Some of these have been previously mentioned and even recommended, so you have to pay attention!

Back to Business...

Hey folks,

I hope everyones holiday is going great so far! Is everyone ready for a slightly shortened trading week? Don't worry if you are not because I do not expect it to get too crazy since most of the big money movers are still on vacation, so expect things to stay rather quiet. If anything, take this as advantage to pick up shares.

What's on my watchlist? TWI, TX, BTRX, ISPH, HXM, MFW, ALXA, FFHL and many more...

Hey folks,

I just wanted wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you and yours!

Pre X-mas profit taking...

Hey folks,

Today was a rather ugly day which resulted in a major of stocks closing down. If you made something today, congrats. I have a couple of stocks I want to mention for next week that showed considerable strength.

Longs: FFHL (this one is starting to finally set up nicely- Tushar, next time don't listen to me, just buy it!), NPTH, AIMC, TAST, VTIV, PFWD

The Semester Is Finally Over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hell yeah!

I am finally finished! Seriously, this was arguably one of the toughest semesters that I have faced. There were many family issues that I had to deal with (illnesses, but thankfully everyone is alright), and sacrifices made. For instance, I didn't make as much money as I hoped to. This was also due to the markets indecisive overall direction and the fact that I didn't have a lot of time to do stock and chart research. There were many mistakes made with several trades since the market drop in the late spring and summer, but I have made back my losses and still made enough to pay off school. I even have enough left over for holiday shopping and spending. Not too bad! Still, I can't help to think how much more potential I would have had. It's all good though, I really can't complain. So far, my GPA for the semester is a 4.0 . I am still waiting for grades in one more class (I took the final exam today). So is it time to party for me?! Hell nah! I have way too much work to do. First of all, I haven't even started holiday shopping. Second of all I have to start preparing for grad school. I have to study for 2 GRE's, pick which schools I want to apply to, write personal statements, fill out the applications, get my letters of recommendation in order and much more. So there will be no relaxing. On top of that, I have a winter session course as well. So no vacation for me, =( .

Anyways, enough about that!

Here are some stocks to keep a watchful eye on: HTI, TWI, VEH, OFIX, ATX, ABD, SVU, LORL, ZOLL, MOV, EVEP, MGM

Another Boring Day...

Hey folks,

If you are interested in JCG, now is a good time to add a position. Also RNIN which I mentioned 2 days ago is setting up nicely for another run after bouncing off of oversold territory. Another interesting winner is MFW. I found this stock about a week or so ago and didn't pay it much mind. The chart was decent. Unfortunatly, I didn't pay attention to the strong accumulation that it was recieving as the stock has jumped more than 20% in the last 2 days due to a positive acquistion. Technically, today was the real breakout to watch for as the stock has taken out its 2yr highs. I would wait for it to base for a few days before initiating a position. You could do it sooner if you prefer to as well, your choice.

Keep Your Eyes on the Prize....

Hey guys and gals,

I have been extra cautious about adding new positions or to current positions due to the sideways action of the markets. I have been conservative on my new adds and I am keeping a close watch on all my positions.

New Adds: SOFO, WRLS, HURC, AGR, AMPX (small pos), SWM, GSH, AGL

Took Profits: KALU(will buy again if it bounces up from 20day MA), CLRT, IMGN, TGEN

Sold for a Loss: JCG (bought it an improper b.p.), ADVNB

Update at 9 PM
Looks like I will be getting back into RVBD after todays close. I also like MFW and ITWO based on their nice breakouts.

Cramer Does it Again...

Hey guys,

It seems to me that Jim Cramer has a penchant for destroying stocks and chart patterns. His latest victim? NHWK. NHWK is a small cap NASDAQ stock that I have been accumulating since it began to work on the right side of its base. Just few days ago, the stock finished its base and began to work on its handle. All it needed was a little push and it would take off. Well, it seems that Jim Cramer gave it a push, or should I say, more like a toss into the stratosphere. But that's not the part that I mind. What I do not like about Jim Cramer is the reason behind his recommendations. Jim Cramers picks and rants are purely political. A large percentage of his recommendations are given in order to help his friends (the big money managers in funds and banks) move their large holdings around. A buy recommendation is usually given so his "friends" can unload a position at an inflated price. No wonder most of his stocks flop and flounder just a few days after a recommendation. His sell recommendations are the opposite. They are meant to drop the price of a stock so that his buddies can load up on it. So, lets see what happens to NHWK. A few days ago, their was huge institutional buying in NHWK. The big money moved into it and now Jim Cramer set in motion. Now lets see where the big money will start to unload. Ladies and Gents, we've been warned.

Almost Done with Finals....

Hey folks,

As you may or may not know, Finals are upon us (for us university/college students)! That means lots of studying and less time devoted to extra curricular activities (such as trading and among other things). As a matter of fact, I am already wasting valuable, precious time typing up this post! Anyways, down to the nitty- gritty.

Keep an eye on Over-bought stocks and do not be afraid of selling some or all of your positions. Some stocks that may be overbought and in need of profit taking: AXR, GROW, IAAC. These are the 3 that come to mind right now.

Good Buys at the current level: LFL, LKQX, RGLD, DWSN, TEX, TNT, ATLS, NFX, NTY, GMKT, KALU, INMD, RENT, BKC, JST

Sectors to keep an eye on: Steel, Metals, Gold and other precious metals (basically the commodities), Oil Service and Pipeline stocks and Oil stocks in general.

Oversold: RNIN (good to add at this point), TAG

By the way, in regards to todays IPO action: I recommend only a small position in MPEL. I actually like FFHL more and plan to go long if I have time tommorow morning.

Sitting Tight....

Hey guys,

I've been very busy the last two days. I guess it is a good thing as it has distracted me from the markets. By having my attention diverted, I have been able to control any emotions or impulses to buy or sell stocks. In the current market environment, this is a good thing. There were plenty of stocks that I wanted to buy and plenty more to sell, but instead, I have refrained from taking either action. It's simply just not the right time. I have my watchlist ready for new buys and an exit plan for most of my positions that I am planning to sell. Looking at the charts, I see a tremendous amount of institutional buying in many stocks today. It seems as if the big boys took advantage of yesterdays weakness. We'll see where this leads up by the end of the week.

More Stock Ideas and Lists

Hey Folks,
I've been rumaging through a lot of lists and screens and I keep finding plenty of new longs as well as older longs that I have already mentioned. Judging by the powerful set ups that most of these stocks are showing, the market is ready, coiled and set to go higher. How much higher? Who knows. All I know is this, whether it is another 50, 100 or 200 points or more, I will take advantage of every single one of those points. Although the upcoming holiday season may slow things down a bit, I expect everything to be in full swing once the New Year is over. But thats a while from now (well at least over a week), so lets concentrate on next week.

New longs? Check out: AGR, WIN, SWM, DAR,

Hot Recent IPO's - KBR (HOD close is bullish...now if we can stay above 23..), FSLR (nice recent action-has a brief, but very promising chart), MFG (slipped between the cracks), VPFG (also slipped btwn the cracks), SPR (recent IPO- just got saved at the 10day Ma on big volume), KCAP (also good), HTZ (promising)

As far as the new IPO's are concerned, I like: AFFY and AIMC.... I would wait before buying GLS, DBTK and ISLN. At this point in time, I would even recommend TAST, OMPI and TOO over DBTK and ISLN.

New upcoming IPO's? Check out: MPEL (this one will probably recieve the most hype)...also check out FFHL, OCLS, PLTE and ARTE

I have found plenty of other good longs. I will try to post some later on in the day or tommorow.

What's Hot & What's Not (12/15/06)

Hey guys,

Nick here to tell ya what stocks are hot and which ones need medical assistance...

What's Hot: AXR, GROW, IAAC, TSRA, OPTM, HXM, RENT,

What's Not: WTS, PSYS

By the way, today is options expiration day for contracts expiring in December. I sold all my December calls today for modest profits in: GTXI, MGM, IFF

By the way, I picked up some GUID (new IPO) at 17.10 I am also looking to add some other ones like GLS, AIMC, AFFY, DBTK, ISLN.
I am avoiding IPGP, and DCT for now as they do not show the technical patterns that I look for in new IPO's. IPO's like RVBD, OMTR, HMIN, DIVX, etc and other successful IPO's show distinct patterns when they IPO, which helps me predict their success.

Final Blues

Hey folks,

Just wanted to pop up and remind you all that I am alive and well. I've just been super busy with final exams, papers and projects. I haven't even had a chance to buy anyone X-mas or holiday gifts. I will have a chance to do all that at the end of next week, right before the holidays.

Book Recommendation- The Office Survival Guide

Hey folks,

I really have never been quite the book reader, but as I advance through my academic career, I have developed a greater propensity to tolerate and actually enjoy reading the occasional good (i.e. interesting) book. The book that I am recommending as a good and educational read is The Office Survival Guide- Surefire Techniques for Dealing with Challenging People and Situations by Dr. Marilyn Puder-York. The book examines various scenarios (such as dealing with supercompetitive peers, and managing different changes in the workplace-such as new management, etc), that can occur in the workplace. In addition, Dr. York also offers practical solutions to these various scenarios as well. I definitely recommend this book to anyone interested in improving their work situation, or any other environment in which you have to work with difficult people. I enjoyed it since it fits right into my alley- Industrial/Organizational Psychology.

Marilyn Puder-York is a clinical psychologist who specializes in organizational management and consultation for businesses and organizations. Her area of interest is improving the working environment and mental health of corporate employees.

Waiting for HLYS and ALGT

Goodmorning folks,

I had several stocks that I wanted to post up as longs but I decided to delay the posting due to the crappy market conditions. If conditions change and the stocks are still looking positive, I may post them up. For now, I am simply just waiting for HLYS and AGLT. The truth is, I should be doing homework and studying for my final exams. I love how I am not only a procrastinator, but I also have all my priorities mixed up!

TGEN, IMGN, KALU, PCC, BARE, RNIN (starting to heat up again), CANI, FLML, HMIN, RKT

ALGT: small poke at 25. I will add more if it drops a bit more.

HLYS: Picked up several rounds of shares between 32-high 34. I just hope it doesn't drop from here, as the stock has jumped up quite a bit from hype alone.

An End to A Crazy Week

Hey guys,

I don't know about you, but I am glad this week is finally over. As far as stocks were concerned, it was not a very good week at all. With a string of negative reports on key economic data and the U.S dollar index drop even further, it was hard to shake off and shrug off bad news as insignificant. Has bad news finally become bad news? You bet. I don't think Wall Street will be as forgiving as it has been in the past regarding negative market news. It has let this happen for too long and now its coming around to kick investors in the arse. Lets be honest, we aren't in good shape. The economy has missed the mark on so many benchmarks and yet, people expect that we will keep going up? Call this a pullback? Lets hope, otherwise this is going to get very ugly very quickly. Now I know this sounds like a whole lot of bad news and it is. But there is one small piece of good news. The fact that the markets did not all close at the LOD and instead, closed near the HOD, signifies some buying strength and accumulation. How much strength? Who knows. Stick around next week to find out!

Enough about that? How am I hanging? Well, my portfolio took its biggest hit on Monday and so far, the markets efforts have not brought it back to the same level. It is incredible how one bad day and ruin everything.

So what do I have in my 'folio

GTXI in at 14.22-15.12
MKTX in at 14.47
MRY in at 2.19
BITI in at 7.08
INMD in at 12.04-13.18
LNOP in at 14.62
TRBN in at 17.15
NTRT in at 18.30
RNIN in at 4.67 and 6.75
SPNS in at 1.47

Are there any other good longs out there? Plenty.
Check out AFAM, WSDT, KHDH. PTT, CCO, HRT, THK, CHINA, OC, etc.
