Stocks for the Week of 7/31/06

Hey guys,

Just wanted to list some stocks that I think you should keep an eye on. Most of them are looking strong chart wise and others have reported strong earnings. Also pay attention to the shorts that I posted up as well. Keep your portfolios slightly heavier in short positions than long positions.

OCN, CRA, USEY, FRPT, RKT, BMRN? BORL, ALJ, ALSK, LMNX, NROM?, JLHY?, STI, AEPI, WEYS?, IASG?, GMTC, MRY, WLSC?, CVD, HIW, AVA, PCAR, CMI, JLL, OKS, DTGP, AZN, UARM, TXU, XEL, CPO, UHCP?, ROSE, PFWD? TNL?, WWW, DSLN, OKSB, FTBK, SBIB. WAL, COBZ, WCBO, PRSP, USB, WFC, TWI?, LUKOY, DRQ, XPO, TDS, N, TCK, CRDN? HITT?, ZOLL, WTNY, ZONS, NURO, NST, NMRX? OPY, ABAX, AEC, BXP, DRIV, FORM, MRN, SRCL, PROG, RNWK?, ISE, IRM, BOT, IHS, SJR TSO, BAP, CTCM

Brand New Shorts...

Hey folks, got a few new shorts for this week.

Most, if not all of the shorts were picked off the IBD 100 list, which by the way, is not acting favorably at all. Since this coming week seems to be a down week ( watch as the market hits resistance once again and makes new lows), it may be a good time to jump in while the stocks are up. Most of the stocks listed have had trouble regaining their 50day MA, despite the decent market action in the last few days.

FTI, EXPD, ODFL, CME, CBG, ETP, STLD, FMD, CLDN, CVH,

Of course some of the setups are more obvious than others. Don't let the upside action on FTI and EXPD fool you...they are not going anywhere but down in the next few days.

Anyways, gotta go...time for some rest.....Later!

More of The Same Thing..

Hey ladies and gents,

Despite the excitement of the oversold bounce during the last few days, the market seems to look pretty lost, despite the strong earnings being posted by DXPE, BGC and WIRE. For now, I will keep to my short positions and keep an eye on more longs. My favorite longs reside in the Utility sector.. both electric or gas utility...foods, such as DA, PEP, PBG, COKE, FIZ, etc... Tobacco...such as UST, RAI, MO, GLH, etc. Some other ones I still like are SLXA, TNH, TAG, WRLD, ECL, OKS, OKE, BWP, TTG, CVD, GRB (major potential), CRAY (major potential), BAC, AVA, DGX.

Some to keep a keen eye on include, DXPE, AXE, TRMB, WLSC, CTV, BIDU, WIRE, BGC, LINE, AEPI

Roughin' It Out.....

Hey folks,

Is it just me, or has everyone become accustomed to seeing a negative tape, day after day? I've definatly become used to it and I am not surprised to see another down day tacked up on the wall. Pessimistic earnings news, tension in the Middle East and rising inflation and interest rates sure do know how to ruin a bull party.

Over the last few trading days I have added to my short positions. Some of my favorite shorts include: CSX, BNI, GYMB, CMG, ET, CRDN, TM, ARII, HANS, WFR, CYMI, LRCX, LEAP, ZEUS, CAM, NDAQ, NYX, DRQ, . Of course, there are plenty more. I will try to find some other profitable short positions. I will also try to find some nice futures set ups for those who may be interested. An idea for those who like FOREX is to go long the US Dollar. Commodity futures can include setting up a long position for NAT Gas futures, Gasoline futures and what not.

Longs? ININ, FIZ, CG, UST, RAI, PEP, PBG, HSY, LMNX, ATK. BWP, AMAG, FTD, OKE, OGE

Busy as A Beaver....

Hey folks,

Wassuuuup?? How has everyone been? I've been o.k.. Just super busy with school and research papers so I haven't had much time to drop in. I hope everyone has been hanging on to this insane market! Despite today's big upside move, I would be a little skeptical about going fully long at the moment. This could just clearly be an over-sold bounce that has resulted from the carnage that we faced last week and earlier this week. I would still hold onto shorts unless they have broken out on high volume. Some shorts to still hold onto are TM, GYMB, CMG, CTRN, and BAS.

Stocks showing indecision include:
IIG
AKAM
CRDN

New Shorts include: These stocks did not react favorably to today's over-sold bounce and positive market movement. They also displayed characteristics of falling on higher than average volume indicating institutional selling.
UNF
YHOO
(wait for a slight bounce 1st and then short)
CNW
DOX
SWFT
RMBS
ICUI
(although there was selling, you should wait until it breaks down further)
Some longs to keep an eye on include:
ECOL

ISIG
GGI
NYX
GPIC
LECO
CTV
JSDA
LEAP
AMAG
HLTH
LNN
CTCI
ECL
UST

NJR Utility
SWX

LFC International Insurance

CTBK
OKSB Banks
FBNW

VTR
HIW
AEC
PSB
HST REITS
BRE
GLB
SLG

My Timing Couldn't Be....

Any Worse! Just as I am recommending sitting on cash, the market pulls a fast one and (can it be true?!) possibly bottomed and confirmed an uptrend?! I know, unbelievable as it is! This means it is time to get the money working hard again! I will be back later to review todays hot stocks and some possible stocks for tommorow. By the way, IVAC was just a monster today! I was iffy on it in the early trading hours when it went back down to 10% from a 12% gain! Who would have believed that some heavy late day buying would catapault it over 17% today?! Anyways, IVAC is a great, solid growth stock with tremendous future potential! I would start a small position now and buy more after it clears the previous highs.

And Without Further Ado...

I present to you, the best security for your portfolio...............

CASH! Or as Wilmer Valderama like to say....."cash Money".

Yep, you read right! I said it! Cash! Lots of it! My suggestion is, unless you plan on shorting stocks, indices and ETF's, my best suggestion is to open up a money market account, or put your money in a 3 to 6 month CD. Yeah, that 5% return is starting to not look to bad afterall!

You could of course play some futures. I am looking to go long on Nat Gas Futures. Or you can stick to safe mutual funds. Emerging Markets, Latin America, Energy Service Sector funds are still good.

Stocks that I like?

Updays Don't Seem to Come Around Anymore...

Hey folks,

I have been VERY busy the last few days, so of course, I haven't been able to post and comment all that much. But yes, I feel your pain with the market. The trouble is not actually finding hot stocks, but rather, its having the market go in the right direction - UP! Well, I am still continuously searching (I don't give up that easily!) and I think I found a couple of interesting stocks to keep watch of. Some I have previously mentioned, while others are new to the watch list.

The Buzz: Questions and Thoughts on today's market action

hey folks,

I can't complain that much about today. Despite the scare that investors recieved from the North Korea missle launch, things didn't go that bad. Sure it was a down day, but there were clearly some winners and other stocks that showed they can hang tough.

TLG - Not a good time to buy, but definatly take profits soon.

ISIG- Still a good buy, but if you got in early, take some off the table

MRY- Still Hot

MIKR - way too extended for an entry.

HSR - way to extended for an entry

ZVXI - good buy at the moment.

IIG- Good buy at the moment. Bashers need to get a life (i.e stocklemon).

CRDN - Hot!

HOC

HELX

BPt and NRT

FIZ

SPEC

I'll be back later with some more nice ones. Gotta study for my final for now!

Under the Weather...

Hey guys,

How was your 4th of July? I had a blast! We had BBQ'd burgers, chicken souvlaki, hotdogs, macaroni salad, potatoe salad, buffalo wings, chips, dips and lot of beer. Unfortunatly, the beer got to me and I am feeling like crap right now. Anyways, I'm sure you're all just interested in what stocks I'll post. So here it is

ISIG - still has strength and holding up at 2.65-2.75 quite well.
HSR - take advantage of dip!
MWRK - thinly traded but holding its own!
MRY - still being snapped up by the big boys
ININ - showing great strength!
