Busy for the Next Few Days...

The next few days are going to be a bit hectic for me so I will not be able to post as regularly as I would like. In addition, I will not have ample time to do sufficient research on new stock picks or ideas. I may be able to throw in a few ideas but nothing more. I should be able to resume regular posting by this coming Monday. For the most part, I have mentioned quite a few stocks over the last few days and weeks. Most of these should work as long as the market holds up. I will try and post a few trade ideas later on tonight.

Hit or Miss...

Today was another one of those hit or miss kind of days. If most of your holdings were in NASDAQ listed stocks, you probably did not fare that bad. But, those who had a large stake in China, Shipping or Solar stocks definitely felt the burn today. Remember to keep those stop loss triggers handy if your trades are going against you. This is not the time to pile on tons of money in individual stocks. Keep positions manageable in size. Last thing one needs is to get in over their head and receive a massive margin call.

New Buy Ideas: AOB

Trade Journal for Monday October 29, 2007

New Buys: ARTG, IIN, ITI

Added To: EDAC

Sold-Profit: AZS (29%)

Sold-Loss: CKSW(1.76%), BW (-2.11% - should've sold sooner), CATS (-14.6% -held for too long)

In Play: ARTG, IIN

Here are the two stocks that I was talking about. I already played IIN before for a 40% gain so this would be a rebuy for me. ARTG is also showing strength. Today is a good day to grab it as it is taking a small rest before its next move up. Of course, cut your losses short. There is no need to let any loss escalate and get out of proportion. Good luck!

Stock Picks and Trade Ideas for Monday, October 29, 2007

Friday's brilliantly bullish close was just what the market needed. Although we didn't exactly close at the HOD, we did manage to successfully bounce off the 50 day MA and close up 1%. Although most of my stocks did well, CRDC and SQNM let me down. SQNM's situation is understandable (nice run-up already), but CRDC was a big let down. Its chart pattern was promising which is why I was surprised. Still, earnings and fundamentals need to be taken into account for the big negative reversal. I believe that traders and investors were looking for a bigger boost in earnings. Perhaps they thought that CRDC would post a positive EPS this quarter. Who knows and who cares. I managed to bail out nicely and break even. I even trimmed down on some ASIA as the stock did not perform as well as I thought it would. None of this really bothers me as there are plenty of new longs setting up very promising chart patterns. Lets take a look at some of the new comers....

New Long Ideas: CROX (rebuy), EPAY, HDB, IBN, ICO, NSIT, SCUR (rebuy), SCL, SQM, TTM, WNG

* I have a few more interesting buy ideas but I don't want to mention them yet. I'd first like to see how they react tomorrow. If they exhibit strength I may post them as In Play candidates.

Add To: ADAM, GHM, NTCT, PGI, TISI, WBD

Sell: SHEN

*ICO and TTM were both previously mentioned by my readers. I do not remember if both were mentioned by the same person or by two different individuals. Regardless, the person (or persons), recognized two potential winners in their infancy. Although they may have been a good buy when first mentioned, now is the correct time to buy ICO and TTM as both are at ideal, low-risk buy points.

Frustrating Action...

Today wasn't a good day. For the most part the markets kept me frustrated all the way into the close. Many of my new trade ideas blew up on me. I stopped out on LFT after an ugly reversal. I was actually able to get in at a good price (32.59) and bailed out at 30.20 for a 7.33% loss. So much for that stock. On the flipside, there were several current holdings in the 'folio that did just fine. These stocks are the cream of the crop and boast the strongest RS in comparison to all the other stocks within the U.S.stock market. The one thing that has me a bit uneasy is the fact that I haven't really found any new high quality stocks to buy. Sure there are still plenty of lower-priced speculative issues floating around but nothing to really get me excited about buying. The amount of negative reversals has me a little queasy as well. I may just be over analyzing the situation though. We'll have to wait and see how the week ends. Keep an eye on earnings for ASIA and CRDC for tomorrow. ASIA already reported earnings and CRDC is due to let the news spill tomorrow morning.

End of the Day Recap/Stock Picks and Trade Ideas for Tuesday October 23, 2007

Just when the situation looked ready to get super ugly, the markets put in a surprise positive reversal. The reversal was most likely a combination of dip-buying traders and positive tech sector earnings reports. Still, the tech saturated bounce was more then enough get the DJIA involved in a little positive action. At the moment it is still too early to tell if this will be a failed attempt or a successful one in refueling the rally. More action and hints toward an actual direction will be needed. Until then we'll have to get used to some sideways (wave-like) action.

New Long Ideas: CRDC (very volatile and risky-but at a good low-risk buy point), CYBS (if you didn't grab today it is still a good buy), GSB

Add To: HNSN, JOBS, LULU, PGI

Trade Journal: Taking Some Profits/Taking Some Losses

Lets face it, yesterday (Friday October 19, 2007) was brutal. The negative action forced me to stop out and cut my losses on many of my positions. In addition, it has also forced me to come to the realization that I have to take profits in order to preserve my gains. Despite the crazy action there are still plenty of stocks that I am holding onto. I will continue to hold onto these decent positions unless I am forced to sell them. True to my strategy I never hold onto a loss if it falls to down 8% from where I bought it (well at least I try to stick to it). This strategy helps me contain my losses to small amounts.

New Buy: SYNP (rebuy)

Depending On How We Close....

....This will either be a great buy opportunity (stocks at a discount), or further deterioration of the uptrend that the markets have been so feverishly trying to maintain. Lets stick around and find out....

Not Too Shabby...

Although the DJIA was down once again, the NASDAQ was able to pull itself up and close over 20 points. For the past few trading sessions there have been hints that have indicated that the NASDAQ would be the stronger index so today's action does not come as a surprise. It will be interesting to see how the week ends.

A Strong Dose of Volatility

Action junkies and risk-loving traders definitely got their fix today as the major indices took a plunge. The DJIA and the S&P eventually found support above their 20 day MA's which they successfully bounced off of. It seemed as if the selling pressure finally subsided minutes before the market close as the indices closed a slightly higher than their lows. The NASDAQ fared the best as it closed comfortably above its 10 day MA. The recent strength in the NASDAQ seems to be indicating that the institutions are parking their money in technology and medical-related stocks. While the DJIA has lost institutional money (banks have withdrawn assets from DJIA component stocks), the NASDAQ seems to still contain a healthy dose of institutional sponsorship.

Although most of my stocks took a light beating, there were several stocks that were able to hold their own. APPY, KHD, SQNM and VSEC were among some of todays stronger stocks. Even CKSW and TTG (new picks) were able to close in positive territory. SQNM was one of the top performers for today. The stock surged over 14% on strong volume.

Trade Journal for Wednesday, October 10, 2007

New Buys: ACTU, VOCS, WBMD, WX

Added To: APPY, ANW, ARTW, EIHI, LGTY, NG, VSEC

Sold-Profit: DDUP (+38.4%)

Sold- Loss: PRAI (-1.14%)

Possible Top: DRYS

After surging over 500% from its initial breakout in the high teens, DRYS may possibly be topping out, at least for a short period of time. I say that this is a possible top because of the tremendous strength that the stock possesses. Many have tried to short it and they all have been burned pretty badly. Still, this is the ideal price level to initiate a small, speculative short position in DRYS. Watch for possible support at the 10 day Ma (roughly a bit below 100).

In Play: WBMD

Here is a strong NASDAQ stock that I like. WBMD is showing tremendous strength along with the NASDAQ, while the Dow and S&P continue to lag behind.

Hate To Sound Repetitive....

...but the only recommendation that I can make tomorrow is to keep adding to your top performing stocks. If of course you really need some new stock or trade ideas check out:

Add to: APPY, EIHI, GHM, KHD, PENX, PWRD, SQNM, SYNT

Added To: APPY, SIMC, SQNM, TIM (so far up 228% since July), VSEC

Sell-Profit: STV (+8.85%)

Sell-Loss: SGN (-8.05%)

There isn't anything new or different about the New Buys or Add-Ons. The only new buy that wasn't listed on the original Tuesday Stock Pick and Trade Ideas post, is KHD.

Keep Adding To Your Winners....

Today is a good day to add to current winners. There are alot of previously bought stocks that continue to show strength. Newer buys may contain a bit more risk as they are still unproven in your portfolio. This is why it is important to add to your top-performing stocks first and then buy any new positions with the remaining available funds. This ensures that your best stocks continue to rack up more gains and limits your exposure to unproven stocks.

What I'm adding to: APFC, APPY, SQNM for now....

Stock Picks and Trades for the Week of October 8-12, 2007

With the market in a confirmed uptrend, the obvious (and logical) strategy is to continue to buy shares of stocks that are setting up attractive chart patterns and set ups.

Bottom Feeders: REITS Bottoming Out

After a long haitus, several REITS have begun to appear on my radar screen. The REITS that I have selected to list seem to be putting in a bottom on their chart patterns. Here is the list. I will try to post a few charts of some of the REITS as well.

REITS: AMB, BMR, CT, DDR, ENN, FRT, HCN, KIM, LTC, LHO, MPW, NNN, NHP, PLD, O, BFS, TCO, VTR

In Play: FSIN

FSIN is starting to show more strength and accumulation in its shares. Keep an eye on it as it has the potential to head higher if this accumulation continues.

In Play: FEED

Here is another China play for nimble traders. Check out FEED.

Note: Bought and sold FEED for a very quick 57% gain.

Stock Picks and Trade Ideas for Friday, October 5, 2007

New Buy Ideas: APFC, HNSN, KNDL, KOP, MORN, OEH, OIIM, PHI, POSS, PRXL, SPW

Time to Sell: MPWR, SSRX

Broken Trends: Certain China Stocks Losing Steam...

China based stocks have been the latest rage on Wall Street. But after numerous 50%+ returns in many of the Chinese offerings, traders have begun to act rational and take profits. Here are several China stocks that have taken a hit from profit taking.

BNSO, CAAS, CBAK, CEA, CHNR, CPSL, CSUN, CTDC, EFUT, NOEC, RCH, TSTC, YGE, YTEC, ZNH

Still Showing Strength: BJGP, CN, FSIN, GSI, KUN, MPEL, ORS

Bouncing Off Support: CFSG, CHA, CHL, CHU, CSCT, EDU, GSH, LFC, PTR, SCR, SHI, SNP, WX

Of course, I am sure I missed a few China stocks but I believe that these are the more popular ones. If you have a question on one that I may have missed, please post the stock and your question in the comment section of this post.

Also note how everyday a new Chinese IPO or OTC.BB stock is beginning to trade on the NASDAQ. This is exactly what happened with the Internet bubble. I am not saying that the Chinese stock bubble is about to pop. It may continue for some time and during this time, more and more new stocks will mysteriously emerge on the NASDAQ and get bid up 50% at a time. Eventually, when the amount of activity reaches euphoric levels and everyone is talking and chattering about Chinese stocks, then it will all come crashing down again.

Trade Journal

New Buys: BLUD, EXLS, LGTY, SGN, TISI

Added to: AATI, ACCL, APPY, BIDZ, SLI, SYNT

Sells Profit: MPWR (28%), SSRX (core position 16%)

Sells Loss: SSRX (added on position -7.23%)

In Play: EXLS, SYNT, TISI

Here are the last three In Play candidates for today: EXLS, SYNT, TISI (up on earnings). All three are showing strong technical patterns on their chart. In addition, all three of them are up on nice volume on a very lackluster day.

In Play: APPY, SLI, SSRX

APPY is in the midst of working on its pivot point. SLI has a nice bounce off the 50 day MA. Cut your loss with a close below the 50 day MA. SSRX has formed a decent pivot point. Notice how it has bounced off today's low. The stock was down over 7% earlier and it has regained some strength. Cut your loss on it if it drops 7% from the new buy point.

Update- Note- I sold SSRX for a 7.23% loss

In Play: BIDZ, BLUD, SGN

BIDZ is an add-on as I already have a position in it. BLUD and SGN are new buys and In Play candidates for today. Whatever you choose to play, keep it small as the markets are rather indecisive today. Now is not the time to pile in a lot of cash into stocks. Keep any new positions small and manageable.

Wild Stock of the Week: CHNR

Sad to say that I missed it. CHNR goes to show you that its wise to buy into strength and ask questions later. Anyway, it would be really difficult for me to recommend it now that it is up another 60%+ today. If you want to play it, play it at your risk. I may grab some if it pulls back. For now, I'd rather be safe than sorry.

In Play: APPY, CATS

APPY is attempting to build a pivot point after it retraced a bit for the week on low volume. CATS launched off a pivot at its 10 day MA and is displaying tremendous strength in its uptrend.

In Play: FSIN, UVE

FSIN is showing some impressive strength and UVE is in the process of extending yesterday's breakout.

Tuesday, October 02, 2007

In Play: BJGP, SCR & SSRX

Today's In Play Candidates are China Pharmaceutical Stocks. This sub-genre has been on fire lately. Although all three have strong short term potential, today's clear winner is SSRX. I've had this stock on my radar for a few weeks now and even watched it as it bottomed. Unfortunately, watching and keeping an eye on so many stock has made me miss the early stage of this stocks opportunity. Still, the current momentum is strong and should be able to take SSRX to new heights in the days and weeks to come.

Stick to the Game Plan...

I apologize for posting so late but I have been feeling a bit under the weather today. I'm still in the middle of going through my stock lists. The only negative thing about a strong positive market day is the amount of stocks that I have to try to narrow down, eliminate and pick. I've finally narrowed it down to a handful.
Here they are: ACCL (previously rec'd), CRESY, DVA, HMIN, IHS, IIT, LTRE, LWAY, NSUR, POWL, SCR, STKL, TISI

Add to: AATI, DGIT, DSX, FSIN, MEAS, NTCT, SIMC, SLI
