BARE was BARELY Impressive...

Hey guys,

I have to say, BARE's debut can only be summed up as decent at best. Where did all the money go?? Once the stop popped up to 29, a huge dumpage ensued. Is it just me, or did it seem that the insiders at BARE could hardly contain themselves as they got rid of their positions? Where were the lead underwriters and other institutions to grab the shares? Something doesn't seem right. I am also no longer that crazy about SFLY either. You must be thinking, "well, why did you start positions on them in the 1st place?" Good question. Yeah, I did start positions on both, but small ones at best. I am waiting to see if institutions step in and raise the price. Otherwise, say 'adios' to the shares. There isn't a dent on my conscience. On the flip side, my RVBD, CVLT, and DIVX postitions are doing fine. I also added a little HIDX to the mix as well. Next week I may even add some CBF and MR. It really all boils down to whats hot next week. I have another nice IPO in my sights. The company is called Acme Packets (APKT) and it will debut around 10/9. Keep this one in your sights because its sure to be a huge hit....

Other stocks to watch: RG, MALL, MTRX, MA, AXP, AKAM, SEAC, CAPA, KSU, CTV, OMG, ICE, QD, QI, SPAR, NWS, NYX, NWK, TIBX, SIMG, SIMO, IONA, NTPA, SXCI, AVZ, CVGR, GMTC, NSTC, UCTT, SYX, AXS, IFOX, SCI, CMCSK/A, SBS, CHDX, SRCL, TESS, INPH, RICK, RAND, TEF, CMRG?, HRZ?, SYKE, STEC, BT, ESPD, FRPT, KALU, OPSW. Waiting for Some Positive Movement....

Hey guys...

There is no doubt in my mind, that there are plenty of nice looking setups out there. I'm just waiting to see how the market handles itself at the current level. We are near resistance and need to surpass the resistance before we head in any further positive direction. With that said, I an simply waiting. I am also waiting for some tasty IPO's as well. I'm talking about BARE and SFLY. Sure, I have DIVX, HDIX, CVLT and RVBD already on the radar and in the portfolio, but I need even more tasty morsels. =)~

Update: I bought some BARE and SFLY

Bare at high 27 range
SFLY at low 16 range

Shuffle the Deck...

Hey guys,

First off, I sold my UAHC for a 45%+. If you haven't sold yet...what are you waiting for?!

Keep NITE, NHC, NTPA, JCG, CBEY, CAB and LINTA, MCD, ABAX, INFY, VSEA, HIH, TNL, ICTG, IDCC, DOX, HS, ICE, SIMO, SIMG, SNX, INWK, RG, TATTF on the radar...

Adding to my positions: HBI, EVST (if it shapes up), OMTR, LMNX (I want to see some bounce 1st), RMTR, RVBD, WEBX, ZONS (good time to add some more), IAUS

You may be thinking, "That's it? That's all you've got?" Nope! There are plenty of stocks setting up beautiful chart patterns. As a matter of fact, there are so many hot stocks that it is becoming increasingly mind-boggling trying to sort through so many. And with school, hw, exams and papers...well, you get the point. For starters, you have your hot IPOS such as RVBD, DIVX, HDIX, HBI and a million others that look very promising. Then you have your small caps like TATTF, ZONS, BITS, SUMT, DGIT, HPOL and a whole slew of other small, speculate stocks that look nice as well. I can go on and on. The point is, you have to hold onto a list of YOUR favorite stocks and keep tabs on it everyday. Look at how each stock has performed and when the timing is right (volume, chart action, price action, market sentiment, etc), you have to take advantage and pounce on the opportunity and make it happen. Good luck to you and I'll see ya tommorow!

Random Thoughts:
Thinking of re-adding: TTEC

At a Glance: Random Stock Analysis

Hey guys,

In this section I will be going through a bunch of stocks that I have on my watchlist and posting my opinion on the stock, whether it is a buy, sell or short. You are also more than welcome to post stocks that you want an opinion on as well.

HRT- let the stock drift lower. To confirm that the stock may spike higher, look for a day of above average volume (over 32,000). HRT has a strange chart movement that is very unique and predictable. Overall, it is a buy for the long run.

HBI- great solid company and nice chart on a new issue. The money flow is healthy and the RSI looks good as well. Expect some selling at the 25 range.

RMTR- I still like this. Just waiting to see when it will stop drifting down and spike up again.

VOLV - Needs to bounce back with higher volume. If it doesn't bounce up at current levels, look for bounce at 58. If that fails, sell it.

TTEC - I already took profits at mid 15's...what are you waiting for? If 14 fails to be support, its back down to 12, which will form a double bottom and provide another buying opp.

QD - Needs to bounce up at least by 2.0, otherwise move onto another more attractive play.

HITT - it would have to break out of the 46 resistance level and stay above there will more money being poured in by the big boys. Stay away for now.

NVEC - um yeah, if you haven't jumped in when the stock was between 15-20, forget this POS.

GILT - I like it, but I would like to see a break out and hold above 9.5 on at least 200k vol.

PSYS - keep an eye on it and buy if it can hold 33 and bounce up. Otherwise, let it go.

Recommended Reading...

Hey folks,

September's Recommended Reading is a book about making split-second decisions. The book is titled Blink by Malcolm Gladwell. I believe that it is a great read for any trader, as the subject matter although not stock related, still pertains to what traders do. It is an easy read that I am sure most of you will enjoy! Happy Reading!

Picks of Interest........

Hey guys,

It's gonna be a very busy weekend for me (hw and all), so I will try to introduce you to some of my favorite stocks for the week of 9/25/06

GEO at 43.74 Seems like GEO is hanging off the 50 day MA. Surprisingly, some institutional buying has helped spare it. Its a buy at this level, but I'd rather wait until it closes above 46 and see some chart improvment. Sell if it closes below the 50 day MA on higher than average volume.

IHS at 33.04 IHS is a good stock, but it has some serious problems getting over 34. I would wait until it breaks out of this resistance level on volume higher than 400k. Until then, pass on it.

HEI at 34.16 Take profits as the stock closed near the LOD after it ran up to 36. This action is a tell-tale sign that institutions used the run up just so that they can dump their shares.

GYMB at 42.90 Nice breakout!

UAHC at 5.70 Nice HOD close! Still not too late to jump in, just wait for a small pullback. I am adding more to my position this coming week. So far, I am up over 30% on it.

PCCC at 10.69 Good time to add a position.

TAM at 31.91

HH at 3.85 - I was a bit skeptical on HH since it dropped during the last couple of days. Yesterday's stong reversal puts it back in a favorable light.

Hooper Holmes Inc (HH - AMEX) 3 month chart

AXS, MDV, ZONS, WEBX, HWCC, STEC, FMD, TWGP, SIMO, NSTC, HURN, SKT, DECK, AMG, DRIV, RYAAY, BWS, LTD, GOL, PCLN, CVGR, CRZ, UAG, LGF, AEC, INPH, INWK, SXCI, MFA, (still good, but you missed the nice div.), UCTT, XNR, NYX, BKD (pretty chart pattern).

Stocks to Keep An Eye On:

ERI at 0.85

Looks like a possible bottom. Also, I see a little distressed stock buying hedge fund action going on.

ICAD. RCNI, TEO. NTPA, SEAC (cup with handle), PEGA (cup with handle), EASYD, RUS, YCC, HA, ICH, GCO, HRSH, CYTR, IW, COGN

OTC.BB Picks

NETP?

WMTG at 0.21

IAUS at 0.66

SQUM at 0.295

EDIG at 0.161

PRNW at 0.70

Hey guys,

Please do not mind the name change. I still consider my blog's title 'My Ambitions As a Trader and Investor. The reason for the addition of the Stocks, Trading and Investing is to attract traffic. New Trades

Hey folks,

Just wanted to give some heads up on some new trades

NYX bought at 68.70 range
RVBD bought at 14.94 range
CVLT bought at mid 15's

Note: PCCC also makes an attractive play

Watch as TAM builds support at 31 range
UAHC still showing strength

Resistance??

Hey folks,

Is it just me, or does it seem that everytime the DJIA tries to break out to new highs, it always seems to face some massive resistance? Is this a double bottom pattern or double top?? We'll know in the upcoming days and weeks.

Stock wise, only a few of my positions have been giving me bread (or cheese). UAHC is on top on my list, as it has given me a 30% return since I bought it a few days ago. But, most of the other positions have been a headache. I am also happy with some movement from MFA. We'll have to see where it will go from here.

Also, expect some declines from GROW (I told you to dump this one before), WRLD, and of course, OCN. Even NUHC and OMCL can't hang. I am also not that crazy about LFC and ISE. Something about the chart pattern looks wrong. With LFC, I am especially weary when I see a stock going up, and the money flow declining (or exiting the stock). It is not a good thing and it may spell trouble in the near term future. I know, its hard to ignore the attractiveness of LFC, especially since its up on a day like this. It could prove me wrong and pull a nice run up to 100...but who knows, be cautious.
If you want, HWCC, IAAC are good buys at current levels. Of course, sell if they break their 50 day MA's.

There seems to be plenty of new longs popping up on the screens. I have quite a few, so here you go:

IIP, VSNT, MEH, NTPA, BORL, NFLD, VRGY, TAM (keep adding), HEI, GOL (wait a lil'), GD, TWGP (let it break 32, 1st), IAAC (good time to add), SHW, BSC (let it break 145, 1st), MWRK, PRXL, BLUD (?), MCD, EMED, AZR, WNS, FMX, PSPT, SIMG, UUU, WOOF, BT, JNC, STEC, ENR (those wireless meeces sure helped improve earnings, if you know what I mean!), TJX (?), TDY, VOLV, SPAR (?), TDS (?), ACP, UCTT, TSS, NHC, NMRX, MBI (?), INPH, AKAM, GRC, ISIG (again!), RKT (?), CVC, MA, PNC (?), SNH, DGIT, FCSE, LOGC, HLIT, UAHC, FUJIY, ELOY, HH (working on handle), PSYS, SRCL (let it break 69 first), TCPIX, TEO, CVNS, NWL, ICI, AMN, CTV (let it break 33 on high volume)

BAS (possibly hit double bottom..possible buy point at 24

Note: This color represents stocks that I believe are the most technically attractive, chart wise.

Want something more risky and speculative? Try NNBP, HYBT, PRGX, ATCO

Quite a few, I know! I will try to narrow some down for tomm and next week. I've been kinda slow the last few days because of school, so bear (not as in the wild animal) with me...

Also, if anyone has any trading ideas or stocks that they would like to share, I encourage you to do so, as this blog is all about the sharing of ideas and knowledge. Thanks!

9/15/06 Updates on New Longs

SXCI, BRLI, PORK, ENSI, DRL?, MNKD?, CNQR, CCOI, CRVL, PRSC?, ARNA, KNSY?, AVD, AUXL, GGL, SMTS, WNS, SYNM?, WLSC?, AKAM, NYX, GOOG (double bottom?), YCC, YSI, PSA, AT, PRST, GXYF, SWAT, GMTI, MA (breakout!), SCHW, AB, TMO, MWRK, RSTI, ISE, ICE, TKR, INWK, NWL, NHC, SUNH?, GD, MAT, LBY, BORL, NDAQ, FMD, FCFS, ECHO, WEBX, EASYD, UCTT, IGT, CHDN?, PVH, UUU, WRLD? OCN?, AEC, TWLL?, GRC, PZZA, IRC, EQ, CVC, IOSP, CJR, JCG, SCI, FCEA, RSTO?, CHL?, CFFN, HPT, TDS, BRLI, NVEC, MTEX, IIVI, TRAD, PSYS, CBZ, GILT, SUAI, EXAS, USM, PSEM, USMO, SIMO, NVDA, NIHD?, SOLM, CPNE. MSI, WLM, RL?, COLM?, CROX. ROG? BCSI, SFNT, ADVS, NWK, NTPA?

As far as Futures are concerned, my opinion is.......
Corn should see upside movement in the upcoming months.

Cattle may rebound, but I wouldn't go long unless it clears 94 and heads into 95.

If Coffee continues to fall, look for a double bottom to set in between 98-100.

If you are still short gold, I would take some profits at 560. If weakness ensues, short some more. If support is present, long some.

I called the short on Copper near the 370 level. So far so good. 330 may serve as some resistance, so be careful. If we break 330, more reistance may kick in at 320. If we break 320, Copper is in for a nice downtrend all the way down to 290. Of course, the opposite may happen. If there happens to be strong support at 330 and news that would benefit copper, long it till 350.

Heating Oil is close to a bottom. It may be a long play if winter temperatures lean on the cold side.

Soybeans, Soybean Meal and Soybean Oil all look like good longs at the moment. They have been on a downtrend for a while and I see a nice upward reversal coming thru.

Lean Hogs may jump up some more, but unless it clears its previous highs, its still a short for me. I already rode up Lean Hogs when the prices started to rise at 56/57.

Sugar may run up in the next few months.

Crude and Nat. Gas may have bottomed for the time being. I would sit out on these two until the future trend becomes more apparant.

The stock indices, such as the Nasdaq, Russell, Dow and S&P look like buys for the upcoming months.

Look for more downward action in the British Pound, Euro, Euro Dollar, Franc, etc.

US Dollar Index should see positive moment, as should the Mexican Peso.

Interesting Tire Stocks: CTB, GT, BDG

Stock to watch for in the future: KALU

Take Profits: GROW, MA

Short: GROW

Futures: Long Soy Beans and Sugar. Short Cattle unless it bounces up from 92, which would be a signal to go long. Short Hogs unless there is a bounce up from 66, which would signal to go long. Short Coffee, or wait for a double bottom signal to go long. Long Corn. Short Gold, Silver and Copper in the short term.

Short the British Pound until it hits support between 1.86-1.82. If support fails, short some more, otherwise, buy to cover. Watch for a bottom on the Japanese Yen. Short the Euro until support is reached at 1.25. Then see if it has support. If support fails, short some more. Short the Mexican Peso. If Euro Dollars cannot breakout out above 95.1, initiate a short position. Go long the U.S. Dollar Index. If Swiss Fran fails support at 0.80, short it! At the moment, I would hesitate going either Long or Short on the U.S. Stock indices as their overall future direction is difficult to assess at this point in time. I would wait on these until there is more concrete info on where the market is heading.

The over all central theme of these positions is as follows: Short Commodities, Go long on staple foods (grains), Long the U.S. dollar and short foreign currency. And there you have it. Happy trading, folks!

Somber September School Daze......

Hey ladies and gents,

As you may or may not know, school is in session. This means it is time for me to concentrate on studying, not stocks. Well, maybe I can spend a little time on the market and stock picking!

Longs: TAM (add to this), TAG (Add to this), INPH, MRN, EDU (hot new IPO), GIGM (maybe), SRVY, AVNC, CPC, CHIC, MWRK, CPA, DGIT, CPNE, ARSD?, EMED, BORL, AAPL, SHW, NVEC (you're on your own with this one!), VIP, CXW, DF, CTV?, MA, HMSY EN, MU, GIL, CROX, BRLI, VTS?, TNC, HTC, HBI, VOLV, ACP?, AHO, CAPA, GENT, IGT?, NGPS, CMRG, SUAI, AZR, VSNT, WAUW

Folks, if you are long GROW, time to take some profits. Also, it looks like a good time to short GROW to capitalize on the downward momentum that will ensue in the very near term future.

I also went long on GENT this morning at 14.79 (small initial position). So far I am up a little over 4%.

September Catharasis

Hey guys,

Just like school, the incoming investors and traders are known to cause headaches. The great influx of new money that flows into the market also creates sell offs in certain stocks. Investors may dump shares of XYZ in order to buy cash in and buy shares of QRS, etc. Some stocks that I may suggest as a sell, include OMCL and WNS (if they dont shape up). Also, CTCM and HWCC is on thin ice. They are ok as long as they dont totally destroy their trend.

Hot stocks include: WGA, SIM, EMED, TAR, TEO, BT, PT, VIP, BOOM, SYX, VOLC, TAM, TDS?, GROW, NVEC, IAAC, CHAP, ACGY, FORM, DRIV?, PRXL?, NEU, MVSN, LNN, CPA, CLB, VMI, BW, DB, RYAAY? And yes it is coincidence that most of these are IBD favored stocks. I picked them because of their attractiveness and their potential to produce large gains since we can expect more people following them now that summer is coming to a close and more money is flowing into the markets. I also recommend a sell on ARSD if one is still holding.

On the down side, some of my short futures have given me headaches. Shorts on Copper, Gold and Lean Hogs have not been favorful on my end. Oh well, you live and you learn!

It's sad, but true! Summer is coming to an end and school is about to start. Still, I am little happy since it will be my last year. So at the same time, I am excited.

Looking for Strength and Volume....

Hey folks,

When looking for potential long swing trades it is important to pay attention to several factors. Four of the most important pieces of information are Relative Strength (RS), Money flow, volume and the stocks place in relation to the moving averages. All of the charts that I post display these parameters, as they are central in successful stock picking. Of course, nothing is full proof and you don't need to follow the same information or parameters that I follow. Whichever method YOU use, good luck and as long as it's working for you, by all means, keep using it! I on the other hand will stick to what works for me, thank you very much!

Some hot stocks: ISIG (yep, its at it again! 130%+, anyone?), ICI (another day of higher than average volume), ORB (looking ready for the breakout), MWRK (still hot), ABMD, AMAG, DRYS, GHDX (keep an eye on it), OCN (you mean you didn't sell it yet?!), GMTC (I friggin' knew it), MFN (wait for pull back), GEX, HEIA (or HEI), BORL, VRGY, INWK?, NITE, NEU, MA, WGA, IAAC, AMIE, IFF, GRC, FORR, NTY?, FLSH, TDS, TAM, SSW, ESS, MA, CBM, RNWK, SJW

By the way, I have sold most of my position of ARSD after a fantastic runup. I managed to snag a 50%+ return on my investment! I have put in another order for a lower price as I am hoping to snap some more shares back at a cheaper price. I am also still long TAG. So far so good. Unfortunatly, despite these wins, most of my other stocks are experiencing a pre-holiday slump. We'll see how things go after the holiday.
