Cramer Alert....

Just wanted to give the heads up to the readers regarding two of my plays. If you were a buyer or holder of CCIX or GLDD, I would exercise caution as Jim Cramer has mentioned these two stocks as buys on his show a few hours ago. As I have learned (and hopefully you should have too), Cramer and stocks just don't mix. His picks and recommendations usually flop after a day or two of volatile upside action (sometimes they stretch for several days). I would definitly hold CCIX and GLDD (but be careful of adding more to your position) and watch and see how the newfound momentum holds up and where it takes the two positions. Once you notice that the momentum and investor/trader interest begins to dwindle, sell the positions for a profit.

Profit Taking ( in addition to trades listed in the previous post)
SNHY- I have mentioned this one since it first made a bullish move at 28. It has consistently outperformed the market and just about every other stock out there for the past few weeks. If you played it, you've received a nice rebound run from late comers who snatched it up near its key MA's. I recommend that you take a least some profits in SNHY.

UNCA- I took some more profits in this one.
-------------------------------------------------
Sells: ASVI - My intraday add was a mistake as the stock consequently plunged and closed in the red. As of now, ASVI is on my POS stock list.

New Long Ideas- If you simply must buy some new stocks, check out SF, FIS, PNSN. I really like SF but I feel as if I missed out on the run. SF is definitely the riskier of the bunch....

Interesting Afterhours Activity: GLDD- I've mentioned this one a while ago and I still like it. It looks like it has some interesting after hours activity as the stock has jumped over 11%. I haven't found any news in regards to the AH pop in price...

More of the Same...

You have to stick to what's working. With that in mind, I haven't really done any drastic changes to the portfolio. Simply more of the same. I added more to positions that seem to be doing well, such as VSEC,, VSR, PHC, ASVI, VSCN, RRST

Profit Taking: ESEA (I couldn't resist), TWI ( a bit)

New positions: None as of now...

Nice and Steady...

Hey guys,

Todays market action must've had everyone glued to their seat! Just when it looked like we would have a down day, we trade sideways. Just when it looked like we would finish sideways, the market takes off and rockets upward, climaxing in a spectacular HOD close. Today, I kept the new buys at a minimum. Instead, I continued to add to my positions in order to maximize profit potential. Lets break it down and see how the 'folio was managed...

New Buys: RRST

Added to: VCC, VSEC, PSMT, PLPC, PHC

Stick to the Game Plan...

Hey guys,

I wish I could tell you that I have a ton of new longs to share with you, but I don't. As far as I'm concerned, the longs that I've been recommending the past few days and weeks are just fine. I only have one laggard that is starting to get on my nerves. Can you take a guess? It's RSCR. Since I bought it, it has dissapointed me a bit. But, I should've known better. The stocks chart, although attractive at first glance, was technically flawed. With the 50 day MA still under the 200 day MA, I should've figured out that the stock wasn't clear for a new upward trend change. Still, the situation may still change for the better. I just wish that it was performing better than this. It is painful to have funds tied up in a stock that is underperforming. I could've been using the funds to add to pre-existing positions which are performing well, such as PSMT, VSEC, PLPC, AXYS, and UNCA. Oh well. It looks like I'll have to be a bit more patient and see how RSCR acts tommorow. Still, I have to keep an eye on it if I want to avoid any substantial losses.

Todays New Buys: HTCO, TRR (I couldn't resist)

New Buys: DYS (rebought), PLPC, AXYS, TCX, XRA

Note: TCX and XRA are speculative buys and should be treated as such

Price Check in the Discount Aisle...

Right now, there are several stocks trading at a bargain.
If you like VSEC and have been frusterated because there hasn't been a decent entry point, today is your chance to get in at the low 58 range. It is for a limited time only so hurry before the deal is done!

Another stock that I like and may add to the portfolio is CEDC. This european beverage stock has a nice chart and volume action that suggests that institutions have been accumulating. In fact, you should too, as I see this stock being a winner in the upcoming days and weeks.

RSCR- I can't stress how undervalued this one is. This is not only an inexpensive growth stock in an industry that will continue to shine in the future (Nursing Homes), it is also a top-notch company, stock and who knows, it may be picked off in a buy-out one of these days.

PHC- Although hardly known by anyone except a fund manager or two, PHC is a tiny nursing home stock that can very well double. They have begun to construct a new facility and if things continue to improve (as they already are), 3 dollars will be nothing but a distant memory...

Surprise Reversal in the Indices....

Just when it looked as if we would close at record highs, short-term traders and investors become spooked and take some profits off the table. I can't really blame them. For decades, many have believed in the "sell in May" idiom. This has led to a self-fulfilling prophecy involving scores of traders and investors unloading their positions and twiddling their thumbs until late fall. I suppose that today, investors felt the jitters and couldn't keep their mouse off of the sell button. It's all good. Out of all the new stocks that I bought today, I was only stopped out of one, TRT for an 8% loss. And thats really about it. TWI, RSCR and several others were only down a small amount. In fact, many stocks in the 'folio are still looking good. UNCA, VCC, VSEC, CCIX, MEDX and several others were still able to close in positive territory. Until we have more information, we can't conclude todays action as a complete reversal. Instead, we should take it as note of caution and be prepared. Last May I wasn't prepared and I suffered some nasty losses. This time, I am playing it more cautious.

Options Play: TRR Options

TRR is a stock that has recently caught my attention. The reason for this is that the stock has finally bottomed after a long down trend and tedious sideways consolidation. All of that changed a few days ago when the stock beat earnings expectations. The result of this (coupled with the industry strength), has helped propel TRR off its bottom at a dizzying pace. I've looked dilligently for options plays (along with finding stocks) and I have to say that the Jun and Nov 07 Calls look very attractive. Even for such a far spread of time, the Nov calls are already in the money since the stock has surpassed the 12.50 strike. I rarely offer options recommendations. I'm only offering this one because of its attractivenenss and the fact that the stock has much more room to go. Of course, don't go too crazy with it. A small position is fine if you are a new to options trading. Good luck!

In Play: VCC & VSEC

Hey guys,

Here are two stocks that I am recommending as good buys at the moment. I have mentioned both in the past, but due to their current chart action, they look as if they are ready to head higher. VCC has pulled back the last few days but seems to be ready to head higher today. VSEC has also been acting positive as well.

VCC

Watch for the bounce...

VSEC

VSEC is currently working on the handle of its cup w/ handle base. Out of hundreds of stock charts, I keep coming to this one as it is one of the finest setups that I've seen. VSEC is definitly a high quality stock.

Longer-Term Plays: Assisted Living/Healthcare Stocks

Call 'em nursing homes, assisted living/healthcare companies, retirement homes, or whatever you would like. The bottom line is that these types of companies are poised to experience increased earnings in the months and years to come. For someone looking for a long term investment or trade, look no further cause I've got you covered on the more attractive plays. First up....

RSCR

I believe that RSCR is one of the more technically attractive plays.

Long-Term Investment Ideas

Hey folks,

Occasionaly, I get tired of trading a stock and selling it after a decent gain only to realize how much of a bigger gain I would have attained had I held it for at least 1-2 years. This has happened to me several times, most notably in JSDA, EPHC, DXPE, and several others. Sometimes, patience can go a long way...and give you a great return as well. After careful consideration, I want to recommend two stocks that I believe are good for a longer-term investment growth strategy. Both are tiny AMEX traded stocks with improving fundamentals, business models and revenues. The stocks are: VCC and PHC....

VCC has just recently changed its business model and has aquired several key companies that allow it to become a formidable force in the boom truck business. Boom Trucks can be used for many different applications such as construction, shipping/distribution and military purposes. The company reminds me of a young CAE or MTW.

PHC has recently announced good earnings and the development of a new psychiatric facility. The stock reminds me of a young PSYS. It is important to note that even established companies such as PSYS, were nothing but sub-5.00 stocks 3-4 years ago. I believe that in due time, PHC will greatly appreciate in value. Today is a nice opportunity to initiate a position.

Pullback or Trend Change?

Hey folks,

Anyway you look at it, today's market action was lousy at best. Even during its peak, I noticed increasing weakness in the majority of stocks. I have made plenty of sells today in order to free up funds to initiate some short positions. Have I sold everything? Absolutely not. At least not yet anyway. It is still way too early to know if what we're experiencing is a pullback or the begining of a trend change. Still, I have compiled a tentative list of some stocks that I would like to short. Still, I would like to continue to be long on stocks that have showed some resilience to the markets negative action such as PSMT, VSEC, VCC, etc. The key thing is to make money and thats it. I don't care if it is being long or short.

Trade Journal

Profts/Sells: MHJ - Took profits and small loss. Overall- small profit. AMAC- took some profits and I am still holding onto 50% of my position. CPII- Took a loss.

In Play: ARAY

ARAY makes a good trade once again, now that that it's back near its 50 day MA. Buy and hold unless the stock closes below the 50day Ma...

New Buys.....

I picked up some stocks this morning that I found over the weekend. For the most part, I picked up a little bit of each just to see how they react within the general market. My plan is to add more to the ones that continue to impress in the next few days/weeks and get rid of the laggards.

VSEC, MHJ, VSR, PSMT, CPII, RSCR, AMAC (previously mentioned)

NYX: Double Bottom or Preparing for the Next Leg Down??

Hey guys,

Check out the chart on NYX. If I am not mistaken the chart pattern looks like a double bottom formation. While it is not a perfect double bottom, the timing couldn't have been any better. With the EuroNext merger a done deal, one would expect that traders and investors are preparing to ride the hype and help the stock appreciate in value. Keep an eye on it as only time will tell.

Doesn't look like the RS can get any worse, or does it??

In Play: JCP Short

Hey guys,

I initiated a short on JCP. The chart action on JCP looks weak and I expect the stock to continue to head lower in the days and weeks to come. Oh and yeah, the weak retail sales data doesn't help JCP either.

Almost done with the Semester......

Hey guys,

Yep, I'm almost done with school. And it is about time! I just have to worry about one more final paper and thats it. Anyways, lets see how todays trades are going....

In Play: VCC, SNHY (both previously mentioned and breaking out)

Took Profits: ARAY ( I didn't like todays action so I took profits. I'll keep an eye on it for the future).

Thinking of selling: VNUS, CCIX

Tuesday, May 08, 2007

In Play: RUBO

Although I thought that their earnings results were horrible, the chart action is proving me wrong. I've had an eye on RUBO since it was trading around 11. Looking at the chart, RUBO looks set to head higher. Therefore, RUBO makes a good long trade at this level. Also, now is a good time to add more to a pre-exisitng position as well.

In Play: RVBD

Hey guys,

I just added a small long position in RVBD. I will add more to it in the upcoming days if the chart continues to improve and the stock takes out the previous 52 wk high. I first went long RVBD during its opening week when it first IPO'd. I then sold in the low 30's for over a 100% profit a few months later.

In Play: ARAY

Hey guys,

This is a good time to pick up ARAY as a new position or as an add-on to a pre-existing position. I first mentioned ARAY as a buy when it bottomed out in the high 19-21 range.

New Sells: INXI

Hey guys,

It looks like INXI's chart performance was all for nothing. Unfortunatly, investors and traders were expecting stronger earnings results and INXI just couldn't deliver. Don't get it confused though. INXI did post great growth numbers and I do believe that they will continue to grow. It's just that the stock may have gotten a little ahead of itself prior to earnings. I know I mentioned INXI several times before. It is a definite sell right now with Friday's disgusting drop. I sold most of my shares early on Friday and then sold the remaining portion before the market close. It was an ugly fall, but you can't do anything about it. There are plenty of other opportunities that one can snatch up rather than letting a loss in the portfolio to continue to widen.

CCIX: Ready to Climb Higher

Hey folks,

Remember CCIX? Well I have been looking at the chart and the last few weeks price action and I have to say that it is looking overwhelmingly bullish. Over the past few weeks, not only has CCIX's chart improved but its ratings among other stocks in its group and industry as well. There has been increased buying pressure and the chart looks technically strong as well. I haven't seen this chart pattern in a while. It really does look like it has already accomplished a high climb (from 15 to nearly 24) in a relatively short period of time ( mid to late March to present) but the sideways consolidation seems to be close to finishing as the stock readies itself to launch off of the 20 day MA. I already have a position since the begining of the move and I have also taken a small profit on a quarter of my position already. Despite this, I am planning to re-add to my position as I believe that CCIX will see better days ahead...real soon.

Both of these stocks will probably head even higher. ATV is a good buy and LPHI is a good buy on any pullback.

New Buys: OREX at 14.44 (good entry!)

Looking to Buy: CCUR, DMX, GFA (re-buy), HUGH, IAO

Looking to Add to: CRN, CCIX, VCC, EPHC, GTA

Sold Profits: SPAN (bought at 21.35, sold at 25.50)

Other good long ideas: IDSA, ATV (I might go long this new IPO)

Sold Loss: DVR ( I should've waited a bit before executing the order.)

Labels:

In Play: OREX

Hey guys,

I have been watching OREX since it has IPO'd and I believe that now is a good time to go long. I've added a position earlier in the day.

In Play: VCC and VNUS

Hey folks,

Both of these are previously mentioned. I am mentioning them again because their charts have improved and they are ready to head higher.

Stick and Move...

Take advantage of pullbacks: INXI has pulled back nicely. Now is the time to add to a pre-existing position or to initiate one. This is because the stock is right above its 5oday MA. If it cracks it and drops below it, you can simply sell and take a minimal loss.

New Long Idea: CRN
