Take Advantage of the Dips...

Hey folks,

Take advantage of the dip in HMIN today. The stock looks like it may have bottomed out for today at the low 24 range. I decided to add a little bit here as well. Also, keep an eye on stocks showing strength, such as INWK, RVBD, and SAI. Also, it looks like APKT has bottomed out for the day as well. Looking at the chart, the current price level seems like a great place to add to a position or to start one as well.

Chaos Ensues: Earnings Volatility, Profit Taking and the GDP report...

Add all of these factors up and you get a recipe for disaster! Hold on tight cause it's going to be a wild day!

Sold the rest of my ZONS position for a loss (should've sold it all at 13-14...damn).

On the bright side, most of my other holdings are either up or at least not tanking (including WEBX, so far). What I find really interesting in my futures portfolio is that my position in the Mexican Peso, Canadian dollar, Japanese Yen and Euro Futures serves as a great hedge when the U.S. Markets are down. So even though the U.S. Indices are down all around the board, the foreign currencies are helping to offset the days loss.

Update at 10:44 AM Markets are starting to bounce up off the day's low. Are Investors starting to get optimistic? It sure seems so! For now, we'll just have to play the waiting game.
I am also looking at the OPTM IPO and wondering if it will be worth a nibble...

So far, my best stock holding is RVBD with a near 70% return.

HMIN, ACHN, BARE, DRIV, TTEC, KSU, NYX, SAI, TV, OMTR and HXM are doing fine.

RVBD was doing fine until I touted it as my best stock holding, lol.

CBEY, CMG, TWLL, EVR, VOLC, VOCS, BKD are all recent IPOs that have done very well after debuting.

What's Hot and What's Not

Hey ladies and gents,

Just popping in for a moment to let you know what stocks have been heating up the charts and which ones are acting like sore losers.

New IPO's HMIN and ACHN opened up to a great start, with HMIN leading the pack. Unfortunatly, HMIN did not allow many investors any decent entry as it opened up nearly 70% above the original pricing. ACHN on the other hand gave investors room to work with as it opened up much lower. I grabbed both of them. HMIN at 22.9 (late entry, I know), and ACHN at 11.90. I also picked up some DEI at 23.68. I still haven't picked up CADX, but I plan to. I also picked up some II and EXLS as well (couldn't resist). I am still waiting on CPRX, and ITR.

Also it is a shame that we will not be able to participate in the Industrial & Commercial Bank of China IPO. We will have to wait for 40 days before we are able to purchase shares over the U.S. markets. I wish there was another way (hmm...perhaps there is!)...

Other noteworthy stocks picking up the slack:
NHWK has finally bounce up off its 50day Ma on huge volume

GCOM and ESPD - both are at their pivot point and make good trades at the moment.

CVLT looks like it has hit support and is bouncing up from there.

Hot Stocks: TTEC, OPY, ICTG, BEN, ACTU, DECK, BG, RC, MPWR, VITL, NTGR, NETC, ISIG, ILC, NTPA, TRT, OMTR, RMTR, PMD, ESPD, WNS, PTI, II, EXLS, CTSH, TTM, DVAX, SMSC, TSTC, AETH, HGSI, NEWP, KDE, NAPS, SYNA, MHP, PSO, LWAY MAIL (i), CDWC, CELG (breakout), LNET (breakout), TEO, AIT, RCRC, USM, USMO, ROP, BMA, UARM, CCBL, IOSP, GSL, ZNH, SUAI, SCOR, RMKR, PCCC (good add point), TNH, QDEL, DSCM, BLUD, MSTR, FFH, IGLD (i), MENT, SPSX, SUPX, BWLD (wow, what a breakout!), LTM, MDCO, UCTT, MCRS, GEL (i), FTEK (maybe too extended...damn), NSTC

What's Hot: Stocks that love to please my portfolio....(some stocks I am up in...does not exclude stocks that closed lower today)
NYX, APKT, CROX, CRM, WSTG, PTI, MFA, KSU, EVST, EHTH, DRIV, BARE, NHWK, CVLT, RVBD, SAI, BFAM, DIVX, TV, PAC, HXM, NWS, APH, FLA, IGT

What's Not Hot: Stocks that just aren't treating me right...
PSYS, WEBX, SQM, TWI, INWK, ACXM, GCOM (still good though), IIVI (still decent), TAM, CR, ZONS

Rough Week For Me...

Hey guys,

I've been stuck between a pile of text books and chair all week as I've been diligently studying for my midterms. I know it doesn't sound very exciting and you're right, it really isn't. Still it is something I have to do. Thankfully, I didn't miss too much action so far. I guess a majority of the new IPO's will come out by the end of the week ( or evern next). Still, I did miss some moves in a few stocks and also found myself in some crappy situations as well (CVLT, CR, NHWK for ex). Oh well, its still all good. I have to admit though, my biggest gainers have been the future contracts that I have been recently dabbling in. Sure, MFA, APKT and RVBD have been good to me, but the real leaders have been the market indices futures such as the NASDAQ, S&P and the DJIA. Anyways, I have lots of studying to finish before I can get some rest for tonight. I'll try to post some stuff tommorow on any new buys or developments.

Picks for Week 10.23.06

Hey folks,

First off, I want to recommend a few IPOs that may have strong debutes.

I like HMIN, CADX, CPRX, DEI, ITR, LMAT

Here's two that I didn't get to immediatly recommend when they IPO'ed. Check out II and EXLS.

As far as stocks other than IPO's, there are dozens of those. Check out:

GCOM, ESPD, RC, CVGR, XOMA, HTI, HINT, TSTC, CYMI, LRCX, HRT, FTGX, RDYN, BULK, TDS, IHG, AVCA, YDNT, MCU, MDV, NEOP, CHTP, GTSI, SUNH, CVNS, DECC, EQ, KHDH, ASY, ECGI, BORL

Nice Breakouts: PSO, MHP (both are in the same industry)

There are more but I have to review them again. Later.

Friday....already?!

Hehe..thats how busy I've been. I swear, it feels like it was Monday just yesterday. I know that I posted that I would post some of my current holdings progress and some new stock ideas, but that will have to wait for tommorow (hopefully in the morning before the bell). I know I postponed it previously, but I need you to bear with me as this is a hectic time for me (Midterms this coming week). On the bright side, I have some interesting picks and suggestions tommorow. I'll see ya then!

Update at 11 am - Hey folks, I am back! Been a little busy with HW this morning so I couldn't provide any pre-market commentary or recommendations. But anyway, now I am here and I looking at the market and seeing how maybe it was better that I didn't recommend anything sooner. So whats actually up? Well, NYX (which I was recommending yesterday), has picked up and perked up right at the pivot point. A close at or near the HOD would be ideal. A close at 75 would be even better!

Some stocks that I have been eyeing are: KDE, LOGI, QSII, TSTC, ISIS, ESPD and NHWK. Those are just a few of them. Some stocks that aren't doing so well in my portfolio include: TAM, IIVI, and WEBX (just a sample).

Update: 3:07 pm - Watch for the institutional support of TAM at the 50 day MA and also pay attention to the pivot point on IGT. Also, DIVX is showing great strength and support at current levels. I am long TAM, IGT and DIVX

Recommendations, Opinion and Performance Recap/Assessment

Hey guys,

I'm not sure if I will have enough time tonight ( I have to study for an Exam that I will have early tommorow morning), but I did plan to recommend a few stocks that I believe have strong chart patterns. I also wanted to post up some of my current stock performances (gains and losses). If I do not get a chance to post everything that I planned to, I will simply post them tommorow or whenever I have a chance!

Bears in a Bull headlock...

Hey folks,

For what should've been a celebratory day for the bears, turned out to be more of a buying opportunity for the bulls as several attractive stocks offered great buying opportunities (such as WSTG and EVST for instance). While my accounts were in the red during the pre-noon hours, I saw some green on my screens and actually some impressive gains in one account and a very slight loss in another. The fact that the market turned around after hitting its low point was impressive enough to attract more buyers as the institutions and big boys loaded up on hot stocks that were tripping off stop losses on the dips. In addition, a proportionally large amount of stocks closed near the HOD, which gives proof that there are a more believers in this market than the average bear may think. Let the nonbelievers continue to scrutinize the market, while those who follow the trend benefit handsomely. I have a ton of Hw and studying to do (which is why I haven't been on as often), but I will try to pop up a little later and offer some stock suggestions. Later.

Update: Some suggestions
INPC, WSTG, EVST, ESPD, SIGM, MCRS, GCOM, FELE, SQM, APKT, RVBD, KSW, CVLT, DIVX, INWK, CDWC, ATRM, TDS, OXM, NSTC... some are new picks and of course, there are a few previously mentioned picks as well.

Yeah, there are others, but this is a good enough working list. Besides, there is always tommorow!

Update: 10/18/06 Grab some NYX as the stop has filled its gap and is at a pivot point. If above average market trading volume ensues, NYX will go higher.

How Investing In New and Exciting Companies Can Pay Off In the Long Run

Hey ladies and gents,

Ever wonder how much your money can grow in the long run? Smart investors wanted to find out that answer out for themselves back in 1989, when many adventurous investors began buying shares of Dell Computer (DELL). To make a long story short, the investors made a killing. Lets put this in perspective. Let us say back in 1989, you decided to invest $10,000 in DELL. If you held on for 10 years, you could have made a cool $8.9 million from your measly $10k investment! As insane as it sounds, it is true (read this in One up on Wall Street by P. Lynch). The problem is, very few people can envision how something can grow, change or fluctuate so far in the future. As humans, we are very present (and past) oriented, seldom thinking or planning about the future time frame. The small percentage of people who are visionaries, are blessed with an extraordinary talent. These individuals are very open minded, imaginative and forward thinking, always working towards a future vision or goal. By focusing on the future as well as the present they are able to make gains, leaps and bounds that have a huge impact on themselves and society as a whole (think of Paul Allen of Microsoft, and investors who bought DELL and held onto it for a decade). It takes tremendous discipline to be a visionary.

I only wrote this piece to heighten your awareness. Our world is filled with many exciting products and companies that have the potential to make their shareholders a handsome return. I am not talking about the current conventional companies or even past winners (like Dell or Best Buy). I am talking about new companies that have recently emerged on the scene. I am talking about companies and stocks such as RVBD, EHTH, APKT, CVLT, etc. Many of these new issues feature novel technologies while others feature exciting new approaches to old solutions. What if one of these companies are one of the few that produce tremendous gains later down the line? Am I a dreamer? Maybe. But still, I can't help but wonder. I am aware that times have changed. Stocks are not as investor friendly as they used to be. Growth in the American economy isn't as explosive as it used to be. Maybe I am a dreamer, but even that will not stop me from wondering and pondering about the future.

TGIF

hey folks,

I have to see, despite lackluster end of the week performance courtesy of my two top laggards - PSYS and ZONS, I did just fine.

A few highlights from some of my top performers
So far, EVST has given me a 13% return
APKT between 11-12%
SAI about 5.2%

Future Shock...

Hey folks,

If there is one thing that I love just as much as stocks, its futures. I am a super newbie when it comes to them, but I have been a fast learner. One of the pros of futures is the fact that there are fewer futures contracts available to trade and pick from than stocks. With stocks, there are literally thousands to choose from and that can sometimes make the selection process very difficult. One of the cons of futures is that you can lose a lot more than what you put into one (unlimited downside risk).

So what futures do I like??
I like all the U.S stock indice futures, including the U.S. Dollar Index. I currently own 1 U.S. Dollar Index future, 1 Nasdaq (Mini) Futures contracts, 1 DJIA (mini) contract, 1 S&P Mini contract.

As far as other Futures go, I am bullish on wheat, corn, soybeans and soy bean meal.

SAIC Inc has made its debut.

Hey guys,

I grabbed some SAI the minute it became public. I am in at 17.25. Still waiting for APKT and EHTH.

Update: Bought some APKT at 14.22 and some EHTH at 22.05

Lots and Lots of IPO's..

Hey ladies and gents,

You know I am excited about several of these that are coming out today: AKPT, EHTH, SAI. I also like II, but I am not sure if it is debutting today. If all these fail to make an impressive opening and a worthwhile trade, I have dozen of other stocks and ideas that I would love to share with you. I'll see ya around! Good luck!

Follow the Leaders...

You have to trade whats hot, plain and simple. Today was a crazy day with lackluster 3Q earnings from DNA and AA and a small plane crashing into a skyscraper down at the Big Apple (RIP Cory Lidle). It's Nuts, I tell ya. Still, despite the madness, the markets were able to close down, but not at the day's low. Between tommorow and Friday, we should be expecting a nice batch of IPO debuts. I will be looking at APKT, EHTH, SAI and II (cause it has a miniscule float). I know, I heard about the Visa Ipo, which is very exciting but I can wait. I have several plays in the mix so its A.G.

Still at It like an Addict...

Hey folks,

It's been a few days..I know. It has been very hectic on my end for sure. With my senior year in full swing and all the preperations that are neccessary for grad school thrown into the mix, its been rather crazy. But anyways, enough about my life. Here are some hot stocks...

BFAM, INWK, ERJ, ASR, DRIV, UUU, STD, PSPT, PRFT, TV, ICON, WNS, TWI, SYNT, ADAM, XRM, NTRT, FCGI, CBEY, UAHC (still love it), UTSI, ESPD, SOFO, DBD, SEE, ANOR, HPGP, AXP, DTLK, TESS, SIAL, GCOM NITE, CAB, UBS, CHTP, EVST, CVLT, CROX, IGT,

iffy's: HWCC, BGC, KVHI, MTRX, IFF, SMSI, GIL, SCVL, MTW, CTV, CYMI, HITT, SPAR

Took some profits in RVBD and ZONS. Both of the profits were over 30% so I can't complain. Of course, I still own most of my positions in both of these. Still I thought that it would be a good idea to take some off the table.

On The Radar Screen

Hey folks,

Just wanted to highlight some stocks that are at attractive buy points. Buying a stock at the correct buy point is ideal, as it helps eliminate down side risk, while it increases upside potential. Those who are disciplined and always buy at the correct buy point (very few people, and I'm not one of them) are who I condsider the real pros of this game. Look for sound buy points is a task that I am still practicing myself....

GOL - Buy point of 37.65

While the stock is slowly winding above its 50 day, the inflow of money is improving and it is very evident if you concentrate on the right side of the volume bar. A BP of 37.65 will get us out of this range and also signal the break from resistance.

GYMB - Buy point of 43.78

Even though GYMB may have already had a breakout, it is still an attractive candidate. This is because the stock is at a pivot point. The BP on this one is at 43.78 Based on the chart I believe that GYMB has a more upside potential.

CMI - Buy point of 125.07

Despite the fact that the stock is 3% above its buy point is not a big deal. If it were more than 5%, then that would be considered "chasing". I really like CMI and it looks like it has tremendous upside potential. I also like SPAR from the group.

ROG - Buy point of 61.06

ROG is at 63.96 which is about 5% above the ideal buy point. I think the chart pattern is a screaming buy, especially when you look at the increase of buying volume on the right. Don't pass this one up.

KNOT - Buy Point of 21.77

The chart of KNOT looks promising. A high volume breakout day would be the perfect scenario.

Profit-Taking Wipes out Some Gains...

Profit taking officially started today since yesterday's market action ended on a positive note. Unfortunatly, todays action was definatly not on a positive note at all, with most stocks encountering losses. I was able to get in some buys, but decided to not put too much in it because I am waiting for a few IPOs to premier this coming week. I will have my eye on APKT and SAI. SAI will be more of a long term play, while APKT will be more like a trade. But I will ultimatly see how I play 'em when they debut.

Note: Picked up some more ZONS at the dip between 12.07-12.12.
Also felt some gains on a CRM position that I had from 36.74 ...CRM closed at 40.36 today on short covering and an upgrade.
On the down side, my small position in PSYS suffered an almost 5% loss today. Gotta see how it reacts next week, otherwise I have to let it go.
My other portfolio fav, TAM suffered a small decline. I decided to add a little to this one as well today. I believe that we shall see 35's on this one very soon.
I also started my position in NWK at the 4.35 level. So far so good!

Just a Quick Note....

Hey everyone,

I can't tell you how busy I am. Exams, papers, research labs, preparing for grad school...it really is a lot. In fact, my schedule is so busy, I seldom have time to look for new longs to introduce to you. So, with that in mind, anyone who has any long suggestions (or even shorts) may feel free to post these suggestions in the comments box. We can all learn to be better traders and investors by sharing and exchanging ideas.

Currently, I've been basically cutting off lack luster stocks and feeding my more positive positions. I've been adding to DIVX, NYX, RVBD, ZONS, EVST, OMG etc.

If conditions remain favorable, I am planning on grabbing some PSPT, SYT, SQM, NWK, SMSC, CHDN, OFSI, VITL, CDWC, MALL, TRA, ESPD, DRIV, TV, SPAR, ASR, BONT, GCOM and others

New Highs and New Possibilities

Hey folks,

What can I say other than "congrats!"? We did it. We surpassed resistance. We have every reason to celebrate. But lets not get too carried away, because as we all know, anything can happen. Regardless, all we have to do is play the current trend in front of us and that trend is pointing north. So I suppose the question is, what is there to buy? Lots. I have already gone thru several dozen charts and I must say, there are a ton of nice charts out there. This of course makes it hard for one to pick stocks. My advice is, learn how to read charts. Also, make sure you pay attention to key indicators on charts of stocks that have had successful run-ups. Analyze them and know how to spot the various signals and signs of a breakout. After doing this several hundred times, I guarantee you that you will know how to spot a hot stock chart in a matter of seconds. Its called Thin-Slicing, and it works. If you want to learn more about this technique, pick up the book titled "Blink", by Malcolm Gladwell. Anyways, enough about that..Here are some goodies..

ICE, ANGN, BFAM, BHE, SPAR, CAB, DRIV, NTPA, ASR, WSDT, ROG, OMG, PPD, WW, TPX, CBEY, AXTI, CTL, JCG, YCC, ICH, NWK, AZO, AMG, ICON, SBS, DECK, ANF, SIMG, SIMO, ACAS, SQM, SYT, RVBD, RICK, SY, RL, VITL, CMCSK/A, CDWC, AXP, SHOO, MOV, MW, NITE, BOT, TRA

Good time to add (stocks at key pivot points and bottoms): UCTT, ANAD, SNTS, NSTR, AUXL, WSTG, NVDA, BBV, STD, GEO, ENER, KSU, IHG, ABAX, ALSK, ORBK, DIOD, OPWV, DCI, GMTC, INWK, TAG (keep adding), GOL, IONA, IRETS, TDS, ITC

Keep an eye (i) on it: MDTL (i), NETC (i), BWS (i), MWRK (i), HRZ (i), OMTR (i), CHL (i)

Time to take Profits: LFL, WRLD

Beautiful Breakouts??

Hey guys,

I've been seeing some really beautiful breakouts and some really ugly ones as well lately. So far my portfolio is doing just fine. If your's hasn't picked up yet, you may unfortunatly wedged yourself in one of the crappy stocks. All of my current holdings are doing fine, with a few exceptions, such as WEBX and CR.

I also took advantage of the dip in DIVX and ZONS and loaded up. I also added more to my RVBD and CVLT on the dip. I haven't added or sold any of my BARE or HDIX yet. I am keep a close eye on TAG and trying to keep adding under a buck. I have a feeling that it will start an uptrend soon after profit taking completly cools off. I also started my NTPA position yesterday and so far so good. I am now looking at PEGA, NWK, UAHC (might do it again) and I will keep adding to my MDV.

Sold! - OMTR (finally got rid of it earlier today), SFLY (sold at 15.5 for slight loss).
Added!- OMG in at 48.70 (+2%)
Biting my tongue about- WRLD
NYX in at 68.79 (+8%)
ZONS in at (between) 9.65-9.88 (various add prices) and added more to the position between 10.38-11.37.
RVBD in at 14.94 area (+29%)
NTPA in at 5.76 (+4%)
SIMG in at 12.96 (-1.70%)
EVST in at 14.96 (-0.53%)
HDIX in at 12.95 (-3.23%)

Just a few of my many positions and standings.....k, gotta run..I have a ton of hw to do...

Holiday Hang-Tuff

Hey guys,

Why is it not surprising that the Dow is leading todays strength, while the NAZ is lazily lagging behind. It truly has been obvious that the recent rally has been lead by the big caps, primarly those centered on food, drugs and defense. So today's action comes hardly as a surprise. Still it would be nice to see some more tech and small cap action.

On the Radar: GEO, CTCM, OSIS, OMG, SUMT, UCTT, ZONS, BARE, ICE, MR, OMTR

By the way, I decided to hold onto BARE a little longer, given the early strength the stock has shown.

By the way, I sold half my RMTR position for a +15% gain. Thank you, RMTR!
